New Book Coming March ‘24
Over the past two years I’ve been working on a book that is scheduled to be published in March 2024. The title, “Can’t Tame A Mongoose: Memoir of a Genomics Entrepreneur,” is based on an old West Indian saying that can refer to a person who pursues their goals with such a degree of passion, persistence, creativity and resilience that there is almost nothing that can stop them.
Here is the current draft of the back cover copy:

A story of the relentless pursuit of one’s passion, this memoir reveals the impact of inevitable, unexpected events on a business or life, and shares approaches to navigate past them to achieve successful outcomes.
Stan Rose’s approach to life and business is a story of persistence and resilience and a nearly unstoppable drive to achieve his goals. An MIT biologist turned entrepreneur, Dr. Rose has created and led multiple businesses in the emerging fields of DNA analysis and genomics. After several successful ventures, he was suddenly diagnosed with a life-threatening genetic disease. Some of the same technologies he had helped bring to the clinic then became critical to his own survival. Following a kidney transplant, he continued to contribute to science and medicine, cofounding a new company commercializing products that might extend the lives of organ-transplant recipients.
In Can’t Tame a Mongoose, Stan Rose shares stories from his own life illustrating the inevitable, unexpected events that may impact a business or life, and strategies to increase the likelihood of overcoming unanticipated challenges or seizing emergent opportunities.

Also please let me know if you have your own stories to share of unexpected events that impacted your business or your life, and how you either navigated past them to success, or were forced to change direction.
